| THE ROAD TO 100 FIT TIP #38, 2007 — Read the Fine Print
How do those infomercials get away with saying you can lose 30 pounds in thirty days using their product for only 5 or 10 minutes a day? Well, like most advertisements that seem too good to be true, you need to read the fine print. The instructions for the product WILL say that you only need to do the exercises with the product for five minutes a day, or ten or whatever, but they will also say you have to increase your cardio to 20 minutes a day, change your diet, cut out fat and generally change your lifestyle.
And, how about those testimonials validating the results you can achieve using the product? Are those people lying? Not necessarily. They are like many of us who decide to make a lifestyle change, get motivated, buy the product and really do whatever else it takes to lose the weight, including changing their diet and increasing their activity.
So, the bottom line is the commercials do not violate the Truth in Advertising laws and the people giving the testimonials aren't lying. They simply do not tell you everything. And what is it they don't tell you? That there is no short cut to weight loss, health and well being. Eat a healthy low fat diet in the proper proportions, get 20 to 30 minutes of cardio at least 5 days a week and supplement your cardio with strength training. There is no other way.
