LYNNE BRICK'S TOP TEN FITNESS TIPS- How to Avoid Holiday Over-Eating

1. Try to think of the holidays as any other day of eating.
Make wise choices and always include your exercise regimen. (I know, easier said than done.)

2. Don't deny your sweet tooth; allow yourself a small treat occasionally.
By the way, two dozen chocolate chip cookies are not a "small" treat.

3. Drink a couple glasses of refreshing water before party going or party-giving.
It will help to fill your stomach and curb your appetite. (Mixing gin with the water does not count!)

4. Be aware of the calories consumed when the cook tastes while cooking.
(Especially when the cook is YOU!)

5. Fill up on fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
(For you chocoholics, not the kind smothered in chocolate.)

6. Be choosy.
Select food items at parties that you rarely have or are only available during the holidays. (In other words, only eat quality junk food.)

7. When eating, remember to chew your food thoroughly, and to eat slowly.
(So do not eat the whole pecan pie all at one time.)

8. Skip the alcohol.
Alcoholic drinks are high in calories and have few nutrients. If you do consume alcohol, try sticking to wine; it has less calories and carbohydrates. (Remember to put the cork back in the wine bottle when finished.)

9. Be realistic.
The holiday season is not the best time to lose weight but challenge yourself to not gain weight. (Even Lynne Brick gains weight over the holidays.)

10. Avoid eating standing up.
(I suggest that you also avoid drinking lying down!)

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
