Tube Training Tips
(Please click here to view the video that accompanies this fit tip!)
While it may be the end of May, it is not the end of our focus to help you get active! May, National Physical Fitness month, is one of the best times to get up and get moving... not just for you but also your family, co-workers, friends and all the "sisters" in your life too!
Since you are always on the go, I recommend that you take exercise equipment with you wherever you go! One of the best pieces of exercise equipment I know is transportable, portable, light weight and easy to use. It is a rubberized resistance tube! A rubberized resistance tube has convenient handles which helps you to tone, tighten and strengthen your body from head to toe. Now you have no excuses! You can pack one in your suitcase to use when you travel, place one in your briefcase to use at work or even use at home.
Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of using a tube for training.
- Choose your color. Tubes come in a variety of colors. You may want to pick the color that best matches your outfit! However, please know that the colors usually indicate the intensity. For example, green is a light intensity, red or purple is medium intensity and blue or black is high intensity. If you take BodyVive, the tubes we use are purple or black.
Purple tubes are equivalent to approximately 9 pounds of resistance and black tubes are equivalent to approximately 12 pounds of resistance.
- Choose your intensity. Less is more and more is less. The less tube you have to work with the harder or more intense your move, The more tube you have to work with the easier your move.
- Choose your option. Option one is one foot on the tube. Option two is with two feet on the tube, Option 3 is the two foot spread.
- Use great posture. Knees over feet. Core tight. Belly button pressing in toward spine. Shoulders back and down. Align your cheekbone over your clavicle.
- Use control. Control the move on the way up and on the way down. Never allow the tube to control you!
- Keep your wrist straight at all times. Think of your wrist as an extension of your forearm. Also be sure to hold onto the handle comfortably and not with a tight grip.
Enjoy your portable, transportable, light weight strength training piece of equipment that can go everywhere with you. You have no excuses!
