How to Maximize Biorhythms
April 29, 2011 By: Victor Brick
We are here in Gwinganna which is a lifestyle retreat on the Gold Coast of Australia.
While we were here we attended a chi workshop, which was a week long program where we would get up every morning at 5:00am to start our day with exercises. We did a lot of yin stuff which is softer as opposed to yang tings which is high energy.
The reason we would get up each morning and start our exercising by 6am is because your body has a natural biorhythm. In prehistoric time it matched the sun. You would wake up with the sun, be at peak with your performance when the sun was the highest, then break and of course eat a real good lunch. Your body then starts to wind down towards the end of the afternoon, and when the sun goes down, typically that is when you are supposed to go to sleep. We know in most cases that is not possible so in reality the magic hour and best time to try to go to sleep by is 10:00pm. People may say they are not “morning people” but in reality that is from conditioning and is not natural.
If you want to improve your energy, clarity of thought, stay in a routine, function better, and get the most from your training, then get up earlier, stick to a regular schedule with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and go to bed as early as you can. Remember the rule of thumb is that every hour of sleep before midnight is worth 2 hrs after midnight. If you go to bed after midnight then you probably are not going to get world class sleep.
So, that’s how to take advantage with getting your body back and your biorhythm in check and also get the most out of your day.
