What’s the Best Beer to Drink to Lose Weight?

August 16, 2012 By: Victor Brick

What is the best beer to drink if you are trying to lose weight? Michelob Ultra, hands down. It only has 95 calories and, probably more importantly, only 2.5 grams of carbohydrates. While some light beer, like Amstel Light, can match the calories, none can match the low carbs. For instance, Amstel Light has 5 grams of carbohydrates.

What is the big deal with low carbohydrates? While many people argue the pros and cons of a low carbohydrate diet, no one disputes it is the absolute best way to lose weight. The body uses carbs as fuel by breaking it down into glucose, or blood sugar. If the body does not have access to carbs, it will burn fat.

So, there you have it. Of course it is best to keep your consumption of alcohol to a minimum, but if you do need a beer, grab a Michelob Ultra.

Corny joke for the day: In keeping with our, discussion about beer: Did you hear about the two Irishmen who walked out of a bar?

It could happen.
