Give yourself permission to be a beginner. Spend the first few weeks just focused on learning the names of common poses. Go to 30 classes in 30 days. All types, all teachers & see what styles of yoga & teachers resonate with you. Continue min. 3x/week after that. Be consistent. Go up front. Introduce yourself to your teacher and tell her why you've decided to take yoga. Get a good mat! I can't say enough for investing in a good mat! I almost forgot the most important part - HAVE FUN! Enjoy your class, be okay with not being good. So what. Everyone was a beginner. Enjoy it!

Working out in the water adds a new dimension to traditional land exercise. Both forms are beneficial but water has specific properties that give your body more support. We weigh less in the water so there is less impact on the joints, yet one can actually burn more fat and calories due to the RESISTANCE water provides as we move through it. If you don’t like to sweat, water continually cools the body even when you are working very hard to get your heart rate up and strengthen your muscles. And best of all, water massages your body as it surrounds your every move. And who doesn’t benefit from that!

Advice for New Members:
I would encourage new members to try a variety of group fitness classes to find which ones works best for them. You may fall in love with a class that you never imagined you would enjoy. Also, members should round out their regular fitness routine to include cardio, strength training and some sort of stretching such as yoga, Pilates, or barre. Exercising is part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. You must take care of yourself in order to take care of others.
